Random Username Generator
Get twelve username ideas at a time (eight on a phone) and tap one to copy it. Pick a theme for the kind of name you want, add your own word or a number, and choose your platform, so every name fits the site you are signing up to. More names adds another batch; New names starts over.

Gamertags, Cute, Aesthetic, and Funny Usernames
Each theme has its own word lists, written for this generator. Most names pair a describing word with a creature or character from the same world, which is what makes a handle easy to remember:
- GamerSlyPanther · MegaBobcat · NitroMech
- FantasyFrostyWyrm · RegalRaven · ArchElf
- SpaceCyberPenguin · FieryPegasus · StarDragon
- CutePuffyFawn · TeenyPug · LuckyLadybug
- Aestheticvelvet.cloud · honey.comet · its.sonnet
- FunnyKookyAardvark · NoodleNewt · WigglyNarwhal
Mixed draws from all six. Names also come as a title and a character (LordYak, LilHusky) or two nouns (StormPanther), and shorter ones come up more often because they are easier to say. Random words is the plain style: one to three random dictionary words, in ten languages.
The theme lists leave out rude, hateful, and grown-up words, and every possible pair is checked for rude words they might spell together before a list is published.
One Name, Five Styles
The same name can be written five ways, and platforms don’t all accept the same ones. Choose the style, or pick your platform and the generator switches to one that works:
- SlyPantherCamelCaseRoblox, Minecraft, X, Twitch, Reddit
- sly_panthersnake_caseInstagram, TikTok, Discord, X, Minecraft
- sly.pantherdot.caseInstagram, TikTok, Discord
- sly-pantherkebab-caseReddit
- slypantherlowercaseanywhere
Make a Username With Your Name or Nickname
Type a nickname, initials, or any short word into Include a word, and every name in the list is built around it: before a character (JunoFox) or after a describing word (CosmicJuno). Letters and digits only, up to twelve.
The word stays on your device. It is not added to the address or the settings link, and it is cleared when you reload the page. Keep in mind that a username with your real name in it is easier to link back to you.
Keep a Shortlist
Tap the star beside a name to keep it. Your shortlist appears under the generator with a copy button for each name, so you can try your favorites on the sign-up page one after another. It is saved in this browser only and holds up to fifty names.
Usernames for Games, Discord, and Social Media
Every platform has its own rules. Open the length menu and pick your platform: it sets the maximum length and, where needed, switches to a style the platform accepts. The rules it follows:
| Platform | Length | Allowed besides a-z and 0-9 |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 30 | . _ (no . at the end) | |
| TikTok | 2 to 24 | . _ (no . at the end) |
| X (Twitter) | 4 to 15 | _ |
| Discord | 2 to 32 | . _; lowercase only |
| 3 to 20 | - _ | |
| Roblox | 3 to 20 | One _, not first or last |
| Minecraft | 3 to 16 | _ |
| Twitch | 4 to 25 | _, not first |
Choose carefully on Reddit: a Reddit username can never be changed, not even its capital letters. Platforms change their rules from time to time, so if a sign-up page says otherwise, it is right.
How to Make a Username Unique
The line under the list shows how many different names your settings can make. Each theme makes between about 8,000 and 20,000, and Mixed over 66,000. Adding a number multiplies that by 85, because the two-digit numbers skip a few that read as codes, such as 69 and 88.
- If it is taken, keep going. Press More names, try another theme, or turn on the number.
- Leave out your full name and birth year. They make a name easy to link back to you.
- Say it out loud. If you will share it with friends or teammates, pick one that is easy to spell from hearing it.
- Use a different name where you want to stay separate, such as games, forums, and marketplaces.
Then Give It a Strong Password
A username is public: it is the part other people see. What keeps the account yours is the password and two-step verification. Make a password for the new account, or a passphrase if you will type it by hand, and use it for that account only.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I create a unique username?
Pick a theme you like, set the maximum length for the site you are joining, and copy a name from the list. If the site says it is taken, press More names, or turn on the number for a name that is almost never taken.
What is a good gamertag?
Short, easy to say, and one clear image, like a describing word and a creature: SlyPanther or MegaBobcat. Names without a number look better, so try a few before adding one. The Gamer theme makes this kind of name, and the Roblox, Minecraft, and Twitch choices in the length menu make it fit.
What is an OG username?
“OG” means original: a very short or single-word name claimed in a platform’s early days, such as a three-letter handle. They are rare because almost all are taken, and buying or selling them breaks most platforms’ rules. A two-word name from a theme is the practical way to get one that is yours alone.
Are five-letter usernames rare?
On large platforms, yes: nearly every short real word was claimed years ago. For the shortest names here, choose Random words, set it to one word, and turn the number off, but expect most of them to be taken already.
Should I use the same username everywhere?
Only where you want people to recognize you, such as a public creator profile. Everywhere else, a different name for each site keeps your accounts from being linked together.
Can I use the generated names for free?
Yes. They are combinations of ordinary words, and they are yours to use. If you plan to build a brand on one, check that it is not someone else’s trademark first.
Can I get usernames in another language?
The themes are in English, which most sites and players use for handles. For other languages, choose Random words and pick a word list with the arrow beside it: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, Catalan, Dutch, or Ukrainian and Russian written in Latin letters. Accents are removed, because most sites only accept the letters a to z in usernames.
