Share passwords with family or staff, use them on every device, and get warned when one leaks. One browser on your own devices is a fine start; for the rest, we recommend NordPass, for how easy it is to use and to share.

Questions
Is Google Password Manager safe?
For one person using Chrome on their own devices, yes, and the UK's National Cyber Security Centre says saving passwords in your browser is fine there. It falls short when you share passwords, use another browser such as Safari or Firefox, or look after passwords for staff.
Is NordPass worth it?
It is if you share passwords with family or staff, use more than one browser or device, or want to hear when your details leak. If you use one browser on your own devices and share nothing, your browser's password saving is enough, and it's free.
Has NordPass ever been hacked?
We know of no reported breach of NordPass. Your vault is encrypted on your device before it is stored, so a break-in at NordPass would only expose scrambled data that needs your master password to open. Its sister company NordVPN once had a single rented server broken into through the data center's own remote-management tool; NordVPN said no customer data was taken.
Can NordPass be trusted?
Its apps were checked by Cure53, an independent security firm, and the business service is certified to SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001. On the other side: its code is not public, so nobody outside can read it, and those audits are several years old. NordPass is made by Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN; your contract is with its company in Panama.
Which password manager has never been hacked?
No company can promise it never will be, so look at what happens if it is. With a manager like NordPass your passwords are encrypted on your device, so stolen vaults are useless without your master password. When LastPass had its encrypted vaults copied, the people most at risk were those with weak master passwords. A long, random master password is what protects you.
What are the downsides of NordPass?
The low price is for the first year, and renewals cost more. The free plan works on one device at a time. Teams is sold in packs of 10 users. Sharing only works with other NordPass users. And its code is not public.
Is NordPass free?
There is a free plan, but it works on one device at a time and can't share. Some NordVPN plans, such as Complete, include NordPass. If you want something free on every device, Bitwarden's free plan is good, and your browser's own password saving is fine if you use one browser on your own devices.
How much does NordPass cost after the first year?
Premium is $1.99 a month for the first year, then $2.99 a month, billed yearly. Family for 6 people goes from $3.69 to $5.99. Plans renew on their own; you can switch that off in your Nord Account. Prices are in US dollars; sales tax may be added at checkout.
Does NordPass work on all my devices?
Yes, with apps for Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone and Android, and extensions for Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari and Opera. On the free plan, one device at a time.
How do I share a password safely?
Use your password manager's sharing, not email or chat, where the password stays in the message history. In NordPass you share an item by typing the person's email and can set when their access ends; they need a NordPass account. For staff, share through a team plan so you can take access back when someone leaves.
Are password managers safe?
Yes, and much safer than reusing passwords. Passwords are encrypted on your device before they are stored, so the company cannot read them, and a strong master password plus two-step login protects the vault. Reused passwords are the bigger danger: one leak can open many accounts.
How do I make a good master password?
Use a passphrase of 5 or 6 random words: long, easy to type, and easy to remember. Make one here.
Can I switch later?
Yes. NordPass can import passwords from your browser and from other password managers, and export them again.
Ready to try NordPass?
Or keep using your browser's password saving. It's free, and fine for one browser on your own devices.
